Granby and Neka Are Leaving Tomorrow

It's official. Granby and Neka will be separated and flown to Oregon via FEDEX tomorrow. A veterinarian will accompany them. Here's the official word:

Twin Lions Leaving Zoo.

Neka's new home will be the Portland Zoo and Granby's new home will be the Wildlife Safari in Winston.

I'm sorry I never got to see Neka recently, or Granby for that matter. Though I know folks in Oregon are in for a treat with those two. I'm very grateful for the joy both Granby and Neka have brought to me and to our area and glad to share their growth with all of you.

Bye-bye Granby and Neka.

n.n Just letting you know that Neka arrived safely! She's being introduced to the other female Kya, and then she'll meet the male lion...who's name escapes me right now because it's something exotic and longer than 4 letters....

Yeah. He may be in quarantine though, most new animals go through 30-60 day periods. *shrugs* I plan to go again in September/August too, so if I don't see him Thursday I may see him next time.
